Styling Ideas - Spring Minis 2024
The number 1 client question is “what do we wear?!”
If you have no idea what to wear to your session, you’re not alone!
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind when picking your outfits is that you pick something that is YOU. Wear something you feel comfortable in and that makes you feel like yourself, but like - your BEST self…
So here are some tips if you’re looking for outfit inspiration:
Keep it simple. Your family is not there to model their outfits, you’re just there to have a good time and capture your family memories. No need to get all fancy if that isn’t your vibe.
Colours are an important thing to keep in mind when picking your outfits. Try and stay away from bright and flashy colours and opt for neutrals instead. They’re timeless, don’t clash with any of the colours in our shooting environment and are easy to match with the rest of the fam. Especially when shooting in a nature/green setting, warm neutrals look great on camera.
Textures and layers and the key to making an outfit look interesting! A few ideas to incorporate this are overalls, interesting fabrics with lace, mixed materials or ruffles, and even a tiny peek of a white T-shirt under a sweater will do a lot for an outfit.
Patterns should be kept simple. You’ll want to stay away from large brand names, logos or big prints.
Accessories can lift an outfit to the next level. No need to go overboard, but adding small details like your favourite necklace or earrings is a great idea if it complements your outfit. Adding items like hats or headbands for the kids can be fun too!
Because is visual is always helpful, I’ve put together some looks. All of these items are currently available at Old Navy, H&M and Zara, but please note that it is not necessary to buy anything new! This is simply some inspiration and ideas of outfits that work well on camera in my experience.
